Gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu ‘Omije Ojumi’ dies after prolonged illness
Bunmi Akinnanu began her musical journey at the age of 10 and later left a career in banking to pursue gospel music full-time.
Popular Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu, professionally known as Bunmi “Omije Ojumi,” has passed away.
Her death was announced on Tuesday via a statement credited to her family and shared on Instagram by her colleague, Alayo Melody.
Sharing a picture of the late singer and a video of her remains, he wrote: “With great sadness 💔😭 we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnanu Adeoye (OMIJE OJUMI), who passed away on 12th January 2026 at a Lagos hospital in Nigeria. May God grant her eternal rest 🙏.”
The singer’s passing comes months after she publicly appealed for prayers and divine healing while battling a serious leg ailment.
