‘I’m proud of my association with you’ — Buhari celebrates Tinubu on his 73rd birthday
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, expressing pride in their long-standing political partnership.
The congratulations were extended during a phone call on Friday, where Buhari also offered prayers for Tinubu’s long life, good health, and successful administration.
According to a statement issued by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the former president highlighted the president’s pivotal role in the formation and success of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Buhari also acknowledged Tinubu and other party leaders for their contributions to his own rise to the presidency after multiple unsuccessful attempts.
“The annals of this country will not be complete without recognizing the varied and numerous roles of President Tinubu—as an entrepreneur, a party stalwart, a staunch activist, party organizer, party builder, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections.
I am truly proud of my association with Asiwaju. When Nigerians handed the baton of leadership to the APC in 2015, it was a mandate to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria, where the poor have opportunities for a better future.
I am glad that the vision is not lost. It was a victory for all who wish the country well,” he stated.
